Losses

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has recorded at least 22,209 civilian casualties in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. It is impossible to establish the actual number of dead, wounded, and forcibly displaced people due to the fact that the occupation forces are continuing their assault on Ukraine. Russia’s war against Ukraine has already produced over 8 million refugees.

Yuriy Kovalenko

On March 14, 2023, well-known Ukrainian historian and archaeologist Yuriy Kovalenko was killed in action. Kovalenko was the author of more than 70 scientific articles and headed the research department of the Hlukhiv National Reserve. In 2021, he defended his dissertation and earned his PhD in history. At that time, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, having signed a contract in December 2020.

Oleksiy Olkhovyk

On March 13, 2023, a cameraman for Suspilne (the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine) and Ukraine Armed Forces serviceman Oleksiy Olkhovyk died in Bakhmut. With the start of the full-scale invasion, Oleksiy Olkhovyk joined the 241st Territorial Defense Brigade of Kyiv, but later was sent to the front line in Donetsk oblast.

Volodymyr Bulba

On March 9, 2023, news emerged of the death of the founder of the network of Kyiv's Rock-music schools Volodymyr Bulba. He was killed in a battle with the Russian aggressors. After the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Bulba volunteered, and then joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Andriy Zahoruyko

On February 21, 2023 Kyiv bid farewell to the host of TV channel "Kyiv", Andriy Zahoruyko, a serviceman who was killed in action near Bakhmut (Donetsk region) in the fall of 2022.

Oleksiy Borys

On February 9, 2023 Oleksiy Borys, a soldier of the 58th Brigade and a journalist of the "Yurydychna Hazeta" newspaper, was killed in action.

Serhiy Klymenko

On February 5, 2023 Serhiy Klymenko, who worked at "Suspilne Kherson", was killed in a battle with the Russian occupiers in Maryinka (Donetsk oblast)

Pavlo Tymoshenko

On February 5, 2023 Pavlo Tymoshenko, a cameraman for the Cherkasy branch of "Inter" who enlisted to defend Ukraine with the beginning of the full-scale war, was killed near Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Andrii Fylypchuk

On February 2, 2023 archaeologist, deputy director of the historical and cultural reserve “Davniy Plisnesk” Andrii Fylypchuk was killed in a battle with the enemy near Kreminna (Luhansk region).

Ihor Teryokhin

On January 28, 2023 journalist, author, restaurateur Ihor Teryokhin was killed in action. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders.
